Heparin-induced, reversible thrombocytopenias with thrombocytes more t
han 100000/mu l are observed in 10-20 % during heparin therapy (HIT Ty
pe1). The life treatening form of HIT Type2 with thrombocytes lower th
an 100000/mu l occurs in 3 % because of immunological mechanisms. We r
eport of a patient with heparin-induced thrombocytopenia Type2 followi
ng anterior exenteration due to bladder cancer dying because of dissem
inated thrombosis of mesenteric arteries following multiple embolic ep
isodes, Apart from that the patient had a sharp-syndrome which could b
e responsible for the clinical course as well. Orgaran and Lepirudin a
re therapeutic alternatives in case of HIT Type2.
