Abstract
Siloxane-silica nanocomposites functionalized with Red 17 were synthes ized via a sol-gel process. Thin films were thermally cured and poled to obtain high and stable nonlinear second-order coefficients of the o rder of 150 to 200 pm V-1 (lambda = 1.064 mu m). Radiated second-harmo nic generation was observed in these planar waveguides with a conversi on efficiency of 5.10(-4)% W-1 cm(-1). (C) 1998 Society of Photo-Optic al Instrumentation Engineers.
