L. Pagano et al., CONTEMPORANEOUS ACUTE MYELOID-LEUKEMIA AND SARCOIDOSIS - REPORT OF 3 CASES, Sarcoidosis vasculitis and diffuse lung diseases, 15(1), 1998, pp. 67-70
Three cases of contemporaneous acute myeloid leukaemia (AML) and sarco
idosis are described. The possible pathogenic mechanisms concerning th
eir concurrent appearance are discussed: if sarcoidosis impaired T-cel
l response, it could perhaps predispose the development of AML; altern
atively, the development of sarcoidosis during AML may be due to a rea
ction linked to a diffuse release of tumour antigens with a subsequent
formation of a non-caseating granulomata.
