Abstract
The balance equation approach is generalized to account for intra-coll isional field effects. Specific results are derived for the miniband t ransport in a semiconductor superlattice. The inclusion of intra-colli sional field effects into the balance equations gives rise to sizable quantitative changes of the drift velocity but does not lead to more q ualitative modifications of the current-voltage characteristics which are due to Wannier-Stark localization.
