Abstract
We present a method for locating center vortices (''fluxons'') in ther malized lattice gauge field configurations. We find evidence, in latti ce Monte Carlo simulations, that the asymptotic string tension of fund amental representation Wilson loops is due to fluctuations in the numb er of center vortices linking those loops.
