Abstract
A front detector of the FOBOS setup built at the Joint Institute for N uclear Research (Dubna) consists of 80 scintillation phoswich detector s. Each phoswich detector is comprised of a plastic scintillator optic ally coupled to a EGO crystal viewed by a photomultiplier. A special s ignal processing circuit for the phoswich detectors provides separatio n of light charged particles up to Z = 14. A detailed description of t he principle of operation and circuit design is presented.
