Abstract
We consider an initial stage of the origination of droplike aggregates in a ferrocolloid made metastable by a strengthening of an external m agnetic field, when emerging nuclei are still not large enough to affe ct ferrocolloid properties appreciably. Expressions for the growth rat e of a high-elongated ellipsoidal shaped aggregate, for the critical n ucleus volume and for the nucleation rate are presented. (C) 1998 Else vier Science B.V.
