APPLICATION OF GENETIC ALGORITHMS IN CHEM ICAL AND PROCESS ENGINEERING

A basic information concerned with genetic algorithms was presented. A modified genetic algorithm (GA) has been proposed. The modified algor ithm was verified using testing functions. As an example of the GA app licability, the identification of degradation kinetics of vitamin C wa s considered. Experimental data for a convective dryer with air flowin g over the material were used. The genetic algorithm was also used to search weights in the artificial neural network designed for smoothing of experimental data The data smoothing effect was illustrated on the example of drying of green peas in a vibrofluidized-bed dryer.
