The present review considers the results of investigations of novel ty
pes of hydrogen bonds inherent in transition metal complexes, namely H
-bonds with the metal atom (XH...M) and with hydrogen atom of transiti
on metal hydrides and boron hydrides (XH...HM), (XH...HB). The spectra
l OR, NMR) evidence of the hydrogen bond formation due to interaction
of proton donors with metal and hydride hydrogen as proton accepters i
s presented. The thermodynamic and spectral characteristics of these h
ydrogen bonds are determined. An analysis of similarity between spectr
al and thermodynamic properties of the novel and classical H-bonding w
ith organic bases is carried out. The participation of these hydrogen
bonds in proton transfer is analyzed.
