Glass slides and silicon chips were modified with aminosilane and vari
ous linker molecules to provide activated surfaces for covalent immobi
lization of oligonucleotides under ambient condition, and the surface-
attached oligonucleotides remain active for solid-phase DNA hybridizat
ion and polymerase chain reaction.
