FLAVAN-3-OLS AND DIHYDROPHENANTHROPYRANS FROM PLEIONE BULBOCODIOIDES

From tubers of Pleione bulbocodioides, two flavan-3-ols and two stilbe noids (shanciols A-D) were isolated, together with the known compounds , bletilols A and C. The new structures were elucidated to be 4'-hydro xy-3',5',7-trimethoxy-5-(3 ''-hydroxyphenethyl)flavan-3-ol, 4'-hydroxy -3',7-dimethoxy-5-(3 ''-hydroxyphenethyl)flavan-3-ol, hoxyphenyl-3,4,5 ,6-tetrahydro-2H-phenanthro[2,1-b] pyran-8-ol and 4,10,11-tetrahydro-2 H-phenanthro[2,3-b]pyran-8-ol, respectively, on the basis of spectrosc opic data and chemical correlations.
