case of a cat infested with Sarcoptes scabiei is presented. A I-year-o
ld male Persian was presented with a 3 month history of severely defor
med claws and paronychia, crusting and hemorrhagic lesions on all four
paws and the fail. These skin lesions were different from the clinica
l features usually described in feline sarcoptic mange. Sarcoptes scab
iei infestation was confirmed by skin scrapings. The cat improved mark
edly with ivermectin at dosage of 200 mu g/kg subcutaneously and 2% li
me sulfur bath at weekly intervals for 4 weeks. There have been no sig
ns of recurrence for more than 20 months since the treatment was disco
ntinued. S. scabiei infestation is extremely rare in cats.
