In situ reduction of CpReO3 by PPh3 to form (Cp*ReO)(2)(mu-O)2 allows
catalytic deoxygenation of epoxides, however, conproportionation betw
een the Re-V and Re-VII species to form clusters of {(CpRe)(3)(mu-O)(
6)}(2+)(ReO4-)(2) and new compound {(CpRe)(3)(mu(2)-O)(3)(mu(3)-O)(3)
ReO3}(+)(ReO4-) leads to removal of rhenium from the catalytic cycle a
nd loss of activity.
