Abstract
The inclusion behavior of carboxymethyl-beta-CD(CM-beta-CD) with the d rug procaine hydrochloride has been examined by using steady-state flu orescence measurements. Experimental conditions including CM-beta-CD c oncentration and media acidity were investigated for the inclusion for mation. The formation constants of inclusion complex were determined a t different pH values. 1:1( CM-beta-CD/procaine) stoichiometry has bee n confirmed. The results suggest that CM-beta-CD is suitable for inclu ding basic drugs based on additional electrostatic interactions differ ent from the parent beta -CD.
