Abstract
To determine whether prolonged dexamethasone therapy, used in the trea tment of bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD), affects the incidence of re tinopathy of prematurity (ROP), premature born infants (Gestational ag e < 33 weeks) treated or not with dexamethasone for BPD were retrospec tively studied over a 5 pear period. Although the dexamethasone treate d group had a significant lower gestational age and a longer period of total ventilatory support there was no significant difference in inci dence of ROP between the groups.
