Mam. Jacobs et Ce. Blanco, THE INCIDENCE OF RETINOPATHY OF PREMATURITY AND STEROID-THERAPY FOR BRONCHOPULMONARY DYSPLASIA, Journal of perinatal medicine, 26(1), 1998, pp. 13-16
To determine whether prolonged dexamethasone therapy, used in the trea
tment of bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD), affects the incidence of re
tinopathy of prematurity (ROP), premature born infants (Gestational ag
e < 33 weeks) treated or not with dexamethasone for BPD were retrospec
tively studied over a 5 pear period. Although the dexamethasone treate
d group had a significant lower gestational age and a longer period of
total ventilatory support there was no significant difference in inci
dence of ROP between the groups.
