Sg. Sandomirskii et al., FEATURES OF THE REMANENT INDUCTION DISTRIBUTION IN A 2-LAYER FERROMAGNETIC CYLINDER, Russian journal of nondestructive testing, 33(10), 1997, pp. 691-697
Model specimens were used to study the distinctive features of the rem
anent induction distribution in a two-layer steel cylinders with diffe
rent ratios of magnetic properties and size of the surface layer and t
he core after magnetization to saturation. The presence of a magnetica
lly soft surface layer-leads to an abrupt drop in the total remanence
in the central section of the cylinder without any change in the parab
olic flux distribution along the cylinder. The effects detected are sh
own to be due to magnetic reversal in the magnetically soft regions of
the cylinder by magnetically hard regions in the remanent state.
