The distribution of ion pairs formed by a number of O,O-dialkyl dithio
phosphoric acids and decylpyridinium (DP) in a water-chloroform two-ph
ase system was studied. Extraction constants (K-DP) were determined. A
linear correlation between logK(DP) and steric and hydrophobic consta
nts of substituents at the phosphorus atom was found. Two-phase potent
iometric titration can be applied to the selective determination of di
thiophosphoric acids.
