Abstract
H-1 Knight shifts in Mg2NiHx and MgHx have been accurately determined
by use of high-speed magic-angle-spinning NMR, which can reduce the li
ne width caused by bulk magnetic susceptibility and dipole-dipole inte
raction. The shift values were -10.7 ppm, -4.1 ppm, 4.6 ppm and 0.9 pp
m from neat tetramethylsilane for alpha-Mg2NiHx, beta-Mg2NiH4, alpha-M
gHx, and beta-MgH2, respectively. Deuterium dilution applied to beta-M
g2NiH4 successfully reduced the dipolar line width, and no isotope eff
ect was observed in the shift.
