Abstract
Protein tyrosine phosphatases (PTPs) constitute a diverse family of in tracellular and transmembrane proteins. Expression data and recent gen etic analyses indicate that many PTPs play important roles in differen t aspects of nervous system development. Although PTP mechanisms are s till poorly understood, current data suggest considerable complexity i n these signaling pathways. (C) Current Biology Ltd ISSN 0955-0674.
