Hypotonia and the hypotonic dysfunction of the circulation have a high
socio-medical importance in Germany. They cause a great number of dis
ablements, hospitalisations and claims for pension, comparable to angi
na pectoris and diabetes mellitus. Certain occupational exposures may
cause hypotonia, and for several occupations a hypotonic circulatory d
ysfunction means a relevant impairment or even a disability for work.
The age peak of the hypotonic circulatory dysfunction lies for women i
n the middle of the occupational life; therefore there are excellent p
ossibilities for the occupational physician in the diagnosis and the c
are for the concerned employees.
