Abstract
A complete reversal of magnetic coupling in transition-metal ion clust ers can be achieved by varying the number of d electrons on the metal centers. Ferromagnetic Mn-III-Mn-III and a S = 12 ground state are obs erved in the cyclic complex [NaMn6(OMe)(12)(dbm)(6)](+), whereas the i ron(III) analogue has S = 0. [GRAPHICS]
