Abstract
(+)-Phrymarolin I was stereoselectively synthesized from (R)-(+)-3-hyd roxybutanolide that had been prepared from (+)-malic acid. The procedu re is more efficient than our previous synthesis in terms of fewer rea ction steps and the easier availability of the starting material.
