Abstract
Ketene S,S-acetal 1 reacts with 2-aminobenzenethiol to afford 2-(1-ace tyl-2-oxopropylidene)benzothiazole 2 which was allowed to react with a variety of active methylene reagents to give spiro[pyran-4-2'-benzoth iazole] derivatives (4-13, 16, 17). Compound 2 also reacts with thiour ea, thioacetamide or bromomalononitrile to afford spiro[1,3-thiazin-6, 2'-benzothiazole] derivatives 14,15 or acetyl-2,2-dicyanocyclopropane- 1,2'-benzothiazole] 18 through a nucleophilic addition and cyclization .
