Electrochemical reduction of 1,8-anthraquinonedisulphonate potassium s
alt forms anion radicals (EPR) and anthraquinone after oxidation of re
duction products. Linear depend ence of E-1/2 Of quinone, moiety reduc
tion on LUMO energy was used for estimation of reduction potential of
probable reaction products. Reduction of quinone moiety is quasirevers
ible and two electrons are exchanged. Desulphonation proceeds in conse
cutive electrode steps of reduction.
