Technetium and rhenium carbonyl complexes [M(CO)(2)(PPh3)(2)(L)] (HL =
1,4-benzodiazepine-2-ones-4-oxide and 1,4-benzodiazepine-2-thiones) w
ere prepared and characterized by FT-IR, NMR and elemental analysis. I
n these complexes the ligands are coordinated through the deprotonated
N(1) and C(2) = X (X = O, S) atoms. The X-ray crystal structure was d
etermined for the complex [Tc(CO)(2)(PPh3)(2)(L2)] (HL2 = )-1,3-dihydr
o-2H-1,4-benzodiazepin-2-one-4-oxide). The metal ion is in an octahedr
al environment coordinated to two triphenylphosphines in apical positi
ons, two cis CO groups in trans to nitrogen and oxygen atoms from the
ligand to form the basal plane. The boat conformation of the seven-mem
bered ring of the ligand is maintained in the complex. (C) 1998 Elsevi
