Dh. Ellis, THE POTENTIAL FOR TERBINAFINE IN NON-DERMATOPHYTE FUNGAL-INFECTIONS WITH OR WITHOUT SKIN INVOLVEMENT, Journal of dermatological treatment, 9, 1998, pp. 35-38
Fungal infections with skin involvement in which terbinafine can poten
tially be used include Malassezia infections such as pityriasis versic
olor, seborrhoeic dermatitis and dandruff; mucosal and cutaneous Candi
da infections; and the traditional subcutaneous mycoses such as sporot
richosis, chromoblastomycosis, mycetoma and phaeohyphomycosis. The use
of terbinafine in the treatment of systemic mycoses such as aspergill
osis, cryptococcosis, histoplasmosis, blastomycosis, Pneumocystis cari
nii infection and Penicillium marneffei infection also needs to be inv
estigated.
