Push-pull substituted nonlinear optical chromophores with thiazole and
thiophene rings and interposed ethylene units as pi-conjugated bridge
s were synthesized. The effects of the nature and location of the hete
rocycles on the energy of the charge transfer transition for the chrom
ophores are discussed.
