Abstract
This paper presents a method to reorganize rules in knowledge bases wi th the objective of improving their performance. Knowledge reorganizat ion is achieved through the combination of rule compression and abstra ction techniques. The effectiveness of this methodology is evaluated i n terms of pattern matching activity and execution times using knowled ge bases from several application areas.
