F. Piard et al., SOLITARY PLASMACYTOMA OF THE LUNG WITH LIGHT-CHAIN EXTRACELLULAR DEPOSITS - A CASE-REPORT AND REVIEW OF THE LITERATURE, Histopathology, 32(4), 1998, pp. 356-361
Aims: We present the clinical and histopathological findings of an unu
sual pulmonary plasmacytoma associated with light chain deposits. Meth
ods and results: The tumour was located in the main left stem bronchus
40 mm from the carina, Histologically, it was composed of sheets of w
ell differentiated plasma cells. Large extracellular deposits of amorp
hous material were observed In the tumour. These deposits were Congo r
ed negative and contained kappa light chains. They were electron dense
granular and non-filamentous. No plasmacytosis was identified by bone
marrow biopsy and no monoclonal spike was shown by serum and urine el
ectrophoresis. Conclusions: Our case is unusual in being endobronchial
and showing light chain deposition.
