Abstract
A senile patient showed a dramatic recovery from medication-resistant depression after non-convulsive electroshock therapy (nc-EST), with a lasting change in response to trazodone, which mainly acts as a seroto nin re-uptake inhibitor. This result suggests that a change in the ser otonin reuptake mechanism may be involved in the effect of nc-EST on d epression.
