Abstract
This article reviews intracranial vaccination, with particular emphasi s on fundamental concepts and vaccine development. The lymphoid tissue of the upper respiratory tract is described in terms of morphology, h istology and cell phenotype. The hypothetical mechanisms of antigen sa mpling and pathways eliciting immune responses are discussed. The lite rature describing practical approaches to nasal vaccine formulation ar e summarized.
