Ll. Rokhlin, DEPENDENCE OF THE RARE-EARTH-METAL SOLUBILITY IN SOLID MAGNESIUM ON ITS ATOMIC-NUMBER, Journal of phase equilibria, 19(2), 1998, pp. 142-145
The existence of the regular connection betw een the rare earth metal
solubility in solid magnesium and its atomic number is shown. For the
elements of the lanthanum row the solubility values successively incre
ase the atomic number, except for europium and ytterbium, which have a
n anomalous small solubility. In general, solubility increases in acco
rdance with the decrease of the atomic radius of the rare earth metal
as far as the difference between sizes of the rare earth metal and mag
nesium atoms becomes less there, Nevertheless, some solubility changes
do not correspond to the rare earth atomic radius values.
