We study the KN Sigma and KN Lambda coupling constants using QCD sum r
ules. We consider the correlators of two interpolating baryon fields t
aken with kaon in initial state. The parts of the correlators with Dir
ac structure K gamma(5) are used, keeping all terms up to dimension 5
in the OPE and including continuum contributions on the phenomenologic
al side. The ratios of these sum rules to baryon mass sum rules yield
stable results with values for the couplings of g(KN Sigma) similar or
equal to 3.6 +/- 2 and g(KN Lambda) similar or equal to 10 +/- 6. The
sources of uncertainty are discussed. (C) 1998 Published by Elsevier
