Abstract
The enantiomers of eight atropisomeric PCB methyl sulfons were separat ed by chiral capillary gas chromatography, using a modified cyclodextr in as stationary phase. Two of these PCB derivatives, -methylsulfonyl- 2,2',3',4',5,6-hexachloro-biphenyl (3-132) and 3-methylsulfonyl-2,2',4 ',5,5',6-hexachlorobiphenyl (3-149), were detected in human liver samp les and showed high enantiomeric excesses. In addition, 3-methylsulfon yl-4,4'-DDE (MeSO2-DDE) and bis(4-chlorophenyl)sulfone (BCPS), were pr esent in human liver.
