M. Lahaniati et al., IDENTIFICATION OF BIOGENIC CARBONYLS IN AIR WITH O-(2,3,4,5,6-PENTAFLUOROBENZYL)HYDROXYLAMINE HYDROCHLORIDE (PFBHA) COATED C-18-SILICA GEL CARTRIDGES, Fresenius environmental bulletin, 7(5-6), 1998, pp. 302-307
A method using O-(2,3,4,5,6-pentafluorobenzyl)hydroxylamine hydrochlor
ide (PFBHA) coated C-18-silica gel cartridges was applied in the ident
ification of biogenic carbonyls in air as their oxime derivatives. The
PFBHA-derivatives of the terpene oxidation products pinonaldehyde, no
pinone, 3-(1-methylethenyl)-6-oxo-heptanal and AMCH were separated and
identified by means of gas chromatography/mass spectrometry with elec
tron impact and chemical ionisation. Sampling of 50 L air through the
PFBHA coated cartridges results in a detection limit of 2 ppbv for the
carbonyls with this method.
