K. Delacaba et al., COMPARATIVE-STUDY BY DSC AND FTIR TECHNIQUES OF AN UNSATURATED POLYESTER RESIN CURED AT DIFFERENT TEMPERATURES, Polymer international, 45(4), 1998, pp. 333-338
The polymerization of a commercial polyester resin was investigated by
differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The conversion profiles were
obtained in the temperature range 60-80 degrees C. The autocatalytic
model satisfactorily describes the experimental data. Fourier transfor
m infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) measurements were also made in order to
obtain both the styrene and polyester unsaturations conversions, whic
h were compared to the overall conversion obtained by DSC. Overall con
version measured by DSC lies between styrene and polyester C=C bond co
nversion obtained by FTIR. (C) 1998 SCI.
