Abstract
With the increased interest in industrial computed radiography systems , radiographers are faced with a variety of implementation options and choices which can seem confusing and incompatible This paper discusse s the practical issues related to the selection of a storage phosphor imaging system and how best to implement such a system for a given ins pection program. It provides a sufficient discussion of the technology to establish nit appreciation that, while it is easy to draw analogie s between film and phosphor imaging, latent image formation and produc tion of a viewable image in these two technologies are based on fundam entally different principles. A discussion is also provided of system operating specifications and what they mean with reference to image qu ality, throughput, and overall costs.
