N. Ishiguro et al., THE SURGICAL-TREATMENT OF A HEMOPHILIC PSEUDOTUMOR IN AN EXTREMITY - A REPORT OF 3 CASES WITH PATHOLOGICAL FRACTURES, Haemophilia, 4(2), 1998, pp. 126-131
A haemophilic pseudotumour is a rare complication of haemophilia occur
ring in 1-2% of patients with a factor VIII or IX deficiency. This rep
ort presents three surgical cases of pseudotumours involved in a patho
logical fracture in the extremities. All cases showed a favourable pos
t-operative course. If the preoperative management is appropriately de
signed, a limb salvage operation for a pathological fracture due to a
pseudotumour could be carried out successfully. Before choosing amputa
tion of a limb, the surgeon should consider the possibility of limb sa
lvage.
