Abstract
The effect of alloy compositions such as Al, Sn and O on the propertie s of Ti-15-3 (Ti-15V-3Cr-3Sn-3Al) alloy was investigated through analy zing different ingots in this paper. An extensive investigation was ca rried out on the effect of the Al equivalent concentration on the alph a-phase precipitation behavior during aging, and the relationship of a ging temperature and time with the mechanical properties of the Ti-15- 3 alloy. Thus, an aging heat treatment was selected as 520 degrees C f or 10 h and air cooling to optimize the mechanical properties. In addi tion, the control of alpha-stabilizer elements in the alloy was discus sed. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science S.A.
