Ht. Macgillivray, DIGITIZATION, ARCHIVING AND DISSEMINATION OF THE 275 GBYTES OF THE AAO UKST H-ALPHA SURVEY DATA/, Publications of the Astronomical Society of Australia, 15(1), 1998, pp. 42-43
We plan to digitise the AAO/UKST H alpha survey of the Southern sky us
ing the SuperCOSMOS facility at the Royal Observatory Edinburgh. The d
igitisation will be performed at 10 microns resolution (0.67 arcsec),
and will result in a database of 275 Gbyte of pixel data for the 200 f
ields of the survey. These data will be processed to produce also a po
int source catalogue. As the H alpha survey is an official AAO sky sur
vey, both the pixel data and the point source catalogue will be made a
vailable to the community as a service facility. We give details of th
e digitisation process, archiving of the resulting data and the plans f
or dissemination of the database.
