Js. Zhu et al., STUDY OF POWDER SINTERING-COMPACTION BY A MICROMECHANICS MODEL, Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. Part B, Journal of engineering manufacture, 211(1), 1997, pp. 73-81
The sintering-compaction process is one of the important methods of Ti
-Al alloy component manufacturing. It is essential to obtain a thoroug
h understanding of the mechanics involved in the process, such as the
load-compaction relationship, void evolution, residual stress and plas
tic deformation. A unit cell micromechanics approach is used in this s
tudy to investigate the load-compaction relationship for various mater
ials under different temperatures. The friction effect is evaluated an
d void evolution is observed. A formula based on the principle of soil
mechanics is developed to describe the phenomenological pressure-comp
action responses of materials during the sintering-compaction process.
