Abstract
We present a coordinate system for a general impulsive gravitational p p-wave in vacuum in which the metric is explicitly continuous, synchro nous and ''transverse''. Also, it is more appropriate for the investig ation of particle motions. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V.
