Congenital short bowel with functional intestinal obstruction and abse nce of appendix vermiformis is a very rare condition with poor prognos is. Seventeen cases of congenital short bowel have been reported previ ously in the literature, The etiology is unknown, In this report, a ca se of congenital short bowel, combined with functional intestinal obst ruction, malrotation, and absence of the appendix vermiformis, is pres ented and the pathogenesis discussed.
