In agreement with their assumption that the mind involves multiple str
uctures, Feldman and Fowler argue that cognitive change is also driven
by multiple mechanisms. It is argued that although this general assum
ption is consistent with other theory and research, Feldman and Fowler
's mechanisms are rather general and not psychological enough. A serie
s of questions are raised with the aim to steer inquiry in the directi
on of making the model more psychological and differentiated. (C) 1998
