Lb. Hellden et T. Derand, DESCRIPTION AND EVALUATION OF A SIMPLIFIED METHOD TO ACHIEVE PASSIVE FIT BETWEEN CAST TITANIUM FRAMEWORKS AND IMPLANTS, The International journal of oral and maxillofacial implants, 13(2), 1998, pp. 190-196
Because osseointegrated implants have no resilience in bone, passive f
it between dental implants and prosthetic superstructures has been ide
ntified, both from biologic and mechanical perspectives, as a potentia
l discriminating prognostic factor Distortion of the metal framework d
uring the casting procedure has been cited as a main cause of misfit.
The objectives of the present article were to describe a recently pres
ented method (CrescoTi Precision method) intended to correct for disto
rtion in cast titanium frameworks, and to elucidate and evaluate the m
ethod by photoelastic and strain gauge techniques. The method appears
to be an efficient and accurate procedure for correcting for distortio
n in cast titanium frameworks.
