Av. Ramayya et al., COLD BINARY AND TERNARY FRAGMENTATIONS IN SPONTANEOUS FISSION OF CF-252, Nuovo cimento della Società Italiana di Fisica. A. Nuclei, particles and fields, 110(9-10), 1997, pp. 1073-1078
The phenomenon of cold (neutronless) binary and ternary fission in spo
ntaneous fission of Cf-252 was experimentally observed by triple gamma
coincidence technique with Gammasphere with 72 gamma-ray detectors. M
any correlated pairs for both binary and ternary (He-4, Be-10) fission
were observed in the spontaneous fission of Cf-252. Yields of cold te
rnary and cold binary fission were extracted. These results are compar
ed with the theoretical calculations using M3Y nucleon-nucleon potenti
al and WKB approximation for barrier penetration.
