In this paper the effects of five kinds of divalent metal ions on LDH
activity were studied. The results showed that Zn2+ and Ca2+ do not af
fect LDH activity while Mn2+ exerted inhibitory effect. At low concent
rations, Cu2+ and Mg2+ slightly stimulate LDH activity, From the bindi
ng model of ternary complex, it could be concluded that I,DH is a non-
metallic enzyme and Zn2+. did not play a catalytic role in LDH. The di
fferent effects of CU2+, Mg2+, Mn2+ and Ca2+ ions were also discussed.
