Ip. Babeva, TAUSONIA PAMIRICA GEN. NOV. SP. NOV., A PSYCHROPHILIC YEAST-LIKE MICROMYCETE FROM THE SOILS OF PAMIR, Microbiology, 67(2), 1998, pp. 189-194
Several strains of a previously unknown fungus with an upper temperatu
re limit for growth at 18-19 degrees C were isolated from soils of the
Alpine regions of western and eastern Pamir. Peculiarities of the mor
phology and developmental cycle do not allow this organism to be assig
ned to any known genus of mycelial or yeast fungi. Therefore, it is de
scribed as a species of a new genus of primitive basidiomycetes-obliga
te psychrophiles with a yeast-like type of growth.
