Abstract
We compute the Schwinger terms in the energy-momentum tensor commutato r algebra from the anomalies present in Weyl-invariant and diffeomorph ism-invariant effective actions for two dimensional massless scalar fi elds in a gravitational background. We find that the Schwinger terms a re not sensitive to the regularization procedure and that they are ind ependent of the background metric.
