Kalpatta granite is one among the acid plutons puncturing the Precambr
ian rocks of Kerala consisting of three dominant phases. The polyphase
pluton is a well-differentiated, calc-alkaline, peraluminous, post-or
ogenic, A-type granite ranging in composition from granite to granodio
rite-adamellite. Geochemical discriminant diagrams, mineralogy, and ma
jor and trace element chemistry suggest that the variants are products
of polyphase late magmatic crystallization.
